Piracy and Downloadable Music
It is an epidemic and one that continues to grow. Millions of people feel it’s perfectly fine to download music from the internet, even people who you might not expect.

1. We all know
that downloading music is done every day by people all over the world.
Most people who do this don’t seem to have any qualms about it even
though morally you would think there might be some issues about
whether this is the right thing to do.
2. The Barna Group, a leading research firm that seeks information
about the Christian Church and cultural trends, conducted a study
about Christian teens and the downloading of music. What they found
might surprise some.
3. Christian teens are no more morally concerned about the illegal
downloading of music than teens who are not Christians. Only 10% of
Christians teens believe it is wrong to download music.
4. 21% of teens believe that unauthorized downloading of music is
morally fine. 8% said they were morally opposed to music piracy.
5. 65% of the teens involved in the study did not believe that music
piracy is a moral issue at all. These teens felt that however they can
get the music is okay.
6. Even 58% of teens who believe it is morally wrong to pirate music
have done so within the last six months.
7. Overall, 80% of teenagers have been involved in at least one kind
of illegal music piracy in the last six months. 84% of the teens
studied reported that they still get the majority of their music from
retail stores.
8. The Gospel Music Association, who funded the study, are now looking
for ways to combat the problem of music piracy among Christian teens.
The campaign will be called "Millions of Wrongs Don’t Make It Right".
They have produced a brochure that has endorsements from several
respected Christian artists. This information will be available for
websites, concert tours and worship gatherings.
Hopefully this will be a good beginning to educating people about the
moral side of downloading music illegally......
